About me

My name is Niels van de Coevering. For over 26 years, I’ve worked as an IT generalist and lifelong autodidact. I never followed formal IT education or extensive training programs. Instead, I built my knowledge through curiosity, persistence, and the generosity of other IT professionals who shared their insights along the way. From the days of AltaVista to today’s search engines and AI agents, I’ve relied on self-learning and problem-solving to grow my expertise. Over time, I’ve become highly skilled at finding answers, even when they’re buried beyond page on, by piecing together information from multiple sources.

Colleagues often come to me with questions, sometimes about IT and sometimes about completely different topics. Most of these conversations start with “Hey Niels!” That inspired me to create this website: a place to collect answers to the harder-to-find questions, not just for my colleagues, but for myself as well. If I had started gathering all these answered questions sooner, I would have had a treasure trove of information by now. But hey, better late than never!

I once started an university to become an educator, but I didn’t finish it. Still, as an IT professional, I love sharing my knowledge with others, helping them improve at their jobs and work more effectively. I’m an analyst and a critical thinker, often challenging people to rethink the way they approach their work. And yes, I’m a proud Microsoft nerd. Whether it’s Microsoft 365, Azure, Fabric, Power BI, or any other Microsoft tool, I enjoy diving deep and making the most of what these technologies offer. Teaching, guiding, and encouraging fresh perspectives remain some of my biggest motivators, and I try to incorporate these into everything I do.

For me, learning and sharing knowledge isn’t just part of the job, it’s a passion that drives everything I do.
